Basak in Care. Volunteers attend to residents of Basak, San Fernando Cebu as the medical mission of Taiheiyo Cement Philippines, Inc. returned to the barangay after four years.
BASAK, San Fernando, Cebu (14 November 2014) — Some 620 residents received medical attention today as Taiheiyo Cement Philippines, Inc. (TCPI) brought back to this village its medical mission after four years, serving twice more patients than before.
It facilitated 458 medical consultations, and attended to 126 optical and 36 dental cases at the Basak Barangay Hall, disclosed Dr. Ildebrando E. Estella, the company physician and mission leader.
The TCPI mission with materials supplier Solid Earth Development Corp. (SEDC) first served this barangay in December 2010, attending to 313 patients.
During this mission, organizers noted that predominant among adults were cases of hypertension, muscle pain and spasms, arthritis (osteo-arthritis), hyper-acidity, and dizziness, while cases of fever, impetigo, gastroenteritis and some dental caries were noted among children.
Some adults and children had common cases as colds and cough, both due to upper respiratory tract infection, a medical condition common in all parts of the country.
Dr. Lelet Estella, Dr. Kharren Carolyn Lada, Dr. Normacita Infantado, Dr. Debra Capulong and Dr. Jojie Ceniza joined the medical team, while Dr. Pearl Cabautan and Dr. Philip Oacan took care of the dental patients.
