Medical mission. Volunteers from Taiheiyo Cement Philippines, Inc. and Solid Earth Development Corp. attend to patients.
SAN FERNANDO, Cebu (March 14, 2015) – The medical missions of Taiheiyo Cement Philippines, Inc. (TCPI) entered its ninth year and started the third round in bringing medical, dental and optical services to residents of the 12 stakeholder barangays it attends to with Solid Earth Development Corp. (SEDC).
Since the health program officially started in June 2006 in Tonggo serving 446 patients then, the mission returned to the same barangay for the third time recently, serving 479 residents. TCPI and SEDC also served 800 persons during the second visit last November 2011.
The third Tonggo mission came after the Cebu Provincial Board commended both companies for regularly attending to the health needs of San Fernando residents, especially those in the hinterlands who hardly get medical attention.
Until then, the missions pursued under the joint Social Development Management Program (SDMP) of TCPI and SEDC have so far served 17,220 patients in two rounds.

Also, 77 others availed of the free optical services and took home a pair of eyeglasses each, while 17 residents got free dental services, she added.
Tonggo barangay captain Virgilio Siarot led barangay officials and staff in assisting the medical mission.
Teachers at Tonggo Elementary School led by teacher-in-charge Reynante Tatoy volunteered to support the doctors, dentists and optometrists.
